The Youth Council trip to Ottawa took place on January 20-24,
2005. The theme of the trip was arts & culture. It was an
educational field trip designed to introduce YC members to national
political, artistic and cultural institutions. Here is the photo
gallery. Enjoy!
Friday, January 21/05
The YC met with a representative from the Assembly of First
Nation Youth Council. From left to right, Winona Polson-Lahache,
Sabrina Sutherland, Adam Albany, Sharon Mendowegan, Violet Chum
& Jonathan Neegan, at the AFN office.
On Friday, January 21st, the YC had lunch at the Sweetgrass
Aboriginal Bistro, a Native-owned restaurant in the By-Ward Market.
Jonathan and Adam both had duck, delicious!
The purpose of the luncheon at Sweetgrass Aboriginal Bistro
was to meet with Jeff Copenace (Onigaming First Nation, Treaty 3),
Senior Special Assistant, Aboriginal and Northern Affairs, Prime
Minister's Office. Jeff was very generous with his time and
knowledge.
The Sweetgrass Bistro is Native owned. From left to right,

On Friday afternoon, YC members took a tour of the
Parliament Buildings.
