New Acting Decade for Youth & Development Coordinator
Our new Acting Decade for Youth and Development Coordinator is Erick Hanson.
Erick was born in Northern Alberta, and lived for a year in Moose Factory, where his father worked as a doctor. His family finally settled in Saskatoon, where he attended most of his schooling.
After high school, Erick began to travel and volunteer working with the poor in Jamaica, India, Thailand, and Brazil. He worked with churches in Jamaica, taught village-level Health Care in India, worked with AIDS babies and orphans in Thailand, and did a transitional project for ex-street kids in Brazil.
He taught himself to play guitar about 18 years ago, and enjoys playing acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and mandolin. He builds his own electric guitars.
While living in Mississauga, he worked for 7 ½ years as a paramedic with the Region of Peel and completed his Political Science degree at the University of Toronto.
His real passion is that young people would find their destiny and be equipped with the tools to work that out in their lives.
Erick looks forward to serving the Decade for Youth Council as they work toward building a framework for a healthy society.
